When it comes to adult content, despite the popular catchphrase, Google is usually not your friend. Whether you’re looking for images or videos, don’t expect to easily find previews: most of the content is not even indexed. Unless you’re specifically looking for a video title or a model’s name, chances are you ignore completely any search engine and go straight to your favorite website.
Even if the most popular websites hold millions of videos, you know that finding exactly the right porn is not an easy task, and requires quite some time and dedication to scour related videos and playlists in order to find the perfect one. So what if the right content is available on a different website than your favorite one? What if the same video with a better quality has been uploaded elsewhere?
A few websites have picked up the task to collect all the available content in one place. They’re search engines just like Google and Bing but also give you the ability to look through thumbnails before opening the actual page. This honest review aims to list the best options on the market right now regarding search engines for porn videos, highlighting the best features and the weak spots.
First and foremost a good search engine for porn must have a big database to be able to satisfy any niche. However, being able to search through millions of videos at once is not enough if the best ones don’t come up within the first page of results, so quality over quantity is a must. Results should be accurate enough, for example when looking for a pornstar a search engine should be smart enough to show videos or picture only related to that model.
Secondly the website must be fast. Pages have to load in less than a second, suggestions have to come up within milliseconds: if the search engine is slower than the websites it’s indexing maybe it’s better idea to search directly on the final porn website.
Ideally ads should not be present, or at least they should not be invasive. Ads that force you to move to another page are some of the worst offenders, while popunders or banners while not pleasing to the eye can at least be easily blocked. A bonus is given to porn search engines that have a well designed and well built user interface with a strong and reliable user experience.
A new player on the market immediately takes the crown. 6VIDS feels like a proper search engine and not yet another porn aggregator stuck in the past. The interface is sleek and modern. With over 50 millions videos it’s the most comprehensive search engine on the market even if it supports at the time of writing “only” 40 porn tubes.
The website has been tested with a pornstar with a common name, to check wether the results are accurate or not. Searching for “Indigo White” gives perfect results, filtering out all the fan-made videos and delivering only what’s relevant. The filters for video quality are especially handy as they’re not only limited to 720p but 1080p as well. Sorting by quality is an easy way to get 4K porn videos.
The website is fast and built on modern technologies, but can get quite slow when dealing with millions of results. Searching for common tags such as “teen” takes a couple of seconds but otherwise more precise searches take less than a second to complete.
Considering it says it’s just an alpha version, one wonders how much better it will get.
There’s a reason if PornMD is usually mentioned among the top porn search engines: it’s fast, good and reliable but not without flaws. It seems the database only contains videos from 12 websites: they’re some of the best ones so results are guaranteed to be good, but xHamster and Xvideos are notable absents from the database. Being part of the PornHub network raises some suspicion on the fairness of the results.
Testing with a pornstar name gives mostly good results but the algorithm is easily fooled by videos with similar titles that are not related. Lots of old results from 6/7 years ago are also thrown in, allowing to discover maybe more quality content but at the expense of wasting space with videos that are not even 720p. At least the infinite scroll allows to go through the useless stuff more quickly.
Yes it’s fast, with pages loading consistently in around 300 to 500 milliseconds. The homepage is the fastest of the lot, coming in at less that 200ms (it’s mostly empty). It does have ads, a big banner on the right side of the results page, much like PornHub.
The UI is clean but feels old and the very wide gaps between thumbnails are very distracting when the content doesn’t have vibrant colors. It’s a shame that results are not opening in a new tab. A single row view is also available, very similar to youtube’s results, albeit very useless other than showing the full list of tags. The slider for the duration of the video is a nice touch.
With videos coming from 238 websites, even if it boasts “only” 30 million indexed videos on it homepage, NudeVista has without any doubts the widest selection of porn. It allows complex queries and providers can be individually toggled to surgically adjust each search. Too bad all this fine tuning is split between the advanced search page and the preferences page. The “models” page is very detailed as well.
Unfortunately, we experienced a lot of issues with the algorithm. Searching for a PornHub pornstar resulted in a lot of lower quality reuploads, with the source material being shown only at the fourth page, after a lot of unrelated content. Very recent videos seem to come up more often.
Yet, a maybe bigger disappointment is the quality of the thumbnails, or lack thereof. They’re forcefully cropped at 4:3, 222px wide. The actual quality of the image is even worse as it seems taken from a badly compressed 140p video. At least a full page load (with images as well) takes less than 1 second!
The interface is very cluttered: lots of colors and useless animations that slow down the navigation. For some reason it looks like a window from the file explorer of Windows XP, continuing on the thumbnails theme of being a visual relic from 20 years ago.
Porn.com’s homepage is huge. You’re welcomed by 120 thumbnails of main categories and an even longer list of tags sorted alphabetically. If it’s not enough you can open a similar page just for pornstars. This is great if you want to get inspired but having to watch dozens of thumbnails from categories you’re not really into it’s a big letdown.
With 43 millions videos indexed the website should cover all the basic needs, and results are precise. Testing with a renowned model shows up pertinent videos from trusted sources without making mistakes mixing videos that are not related to that pornstar. Entries from the big networks seem to come up first in every queries, but some of the top results unfortunately lead up to 404 pages.
Result pages load up in 500 to 1300 milliseconds and there are no ads whatsoever. Unfortunately the interface is so crammed with content that it becomes simply too crowded: good luck finding the video you’re looking for among 120 tiny previews per page. The fact that multiple thumbnails for each video aren’t available is unacceptable.
At 47 millions videos indexed, FindTube claims to have the largest database among the websites reviewed. It’s part of a network of search engines, that share the same interface (and most likely the same database), with some of them being more tuned towards different audiences. Findtube is being analyzed here as it looks like the main one.
Pornstar names don’t come up among suggestions, but the results are usually good enough. It does mistake the name of a model for the title of other unrelated material, but the expected results do show up within the first rows. Still, it does a better job than other search engines at displaying the best results. No ads and the pages load below the 600ms mark.
The interface is clean and well organized but it’s again a 15x8 grid of very small thumbnails with comically small text below them (good luck reading a 10px pink subtitle). Lots of the features are suspiciously similar to the ones found on porn.com.
Rexx takes a special mention in this list. With 18 sources it’s not the biggest database and the interface is buggy, but it’s fast, it’s really fast.
Maybe it’s thanks to the smaller dataset, but other than a couple of mistakes the first rows of results are very precise. Then it’s a mess and there are very few results even from the actual sources. However, a result page loads in under 200ms which is just amazing.
Rexx is the only one among the reviewed to show the video within frames on the same website. Not having to leave page to watch a video is really great and generally gives a sense of safety. Plus, more related videos are accessible below the player.
Unfortunately, this porn search engine also looses a lot of points for the UI. The homepage has a strange jump when scrolling. There’s a video advertisement fixed in the bottom right corner (and more ads next to the playing video) and many icons feel dated.
Of course none of them are at Google level: after all, we’re still talking about porn websites. Some people still use Bing to search for images, others look for niches on Reddit and most of the traffic will continue to go directly to the main networks (Xvideos currently has the lead according to Alexa) but we would hope to see the same competition happening between big online porn players also between porn search engines.
